Morning lectures are given by faculty members, which encompass all subspecialties. In addition, our Program Director arranges for a AAO BCSC review series. Simon is professor of ophthalmology and pediatrics at the Albany Medical College, where he has served as chairman of ophthalmology since 1992. John has had three National Eye Institute grants. His 200 publications cover a wide range of subjects in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. He has served on the editorial board of the Journal of AAPOS, as chair of the AAO BCSC, and as associate examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology (now in his 15th year). John was president of AAPOS in 1997-1998. His book, ”A Child’s Eyes”, received the American Medical Writers’ Association award for the best book of the year. A member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and American Ophthalmological Society, John was the recipient of a Senior Achievement Honor Award and a Secretariat Award from the AAO, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from AAPOS.
